Passionate guitar teacher in Central Otago
Joel has been teaching guitar since 2010 both privately and in schools. His passion is acoustic/finger-style guitar, however he has experience working with a range of genres and styles - acoustic and electric. Lessons are individually tailored to suit your experience, goals, and musical tastes. In 2024 Joel completed training with the Institute of Registered Music Teachers New Zealand and is an Associate Member of the organization.
Joel’s experience in both solo and band situations allows him to integrate musicianship skills into lessons; not only will you learn guitar, but things that are often overlooked such as stage presence and how to get the most out of your gear is also covered.

Joel’s Goal is to Make Music Inspiring & Enjoyable
After completing a Bachelor of Audio Production, Joel spent six months backpacking around Europe and was inspired by the music and culture. After returning to New Zealand to his chef job, it was an easy decision to hang up the apron and redirect his focus to a full-time music career.
Joel takes pride in what he does and sets himself the highest standards. He finds it extremely rewarding having a career in music and enjoys all aspects - from performing and sharing music with the world, to sharing his knowledge and experience with students.
